Tony Ofungi holds a Bachelor of .Arts and Social Sciences, plus a diploma in Tourism Management and one in Conservation Management During the Covid 19 lockdown Tony embarked on a Diploma in Sustainable Tourism conducted by the Dutch Government sponsored Centre for Promotion of Exports ( Netherlands) targeting tourism operators on “How to become a better tour operator. Tony has second-generation experience in the tourism industry with public and private sector experience. He worked for Disney’s Animal Kingdom in 1998 as game spotting guide at ‘Kilimanjaro Safaris’ and also had a stint with Disney Cruise lines. His extensive work experiences also cover Destination Marketing with the Uganda Tourism Board. He currently runs a Destination Management Company with Maleng Travel that he set up in 2010. Tony holds the following memberships with Association of Uganda Tour Operators, Association (AUTO) for Conservation of Bugoma Forest, Uganda Safari Guides Association, Nature Uganda (World Tourism Network) have augmented my profile as an individual who lives and breathes tourism as a business and as a passion. To keep abreast with the sector peers and developments Tony is a long time Correspondent/Ambassador for E-Turbo Online Tourism News. He is now pursuing a Diploma course through SUNx Malta and ITS Malta in Climate Friendly Travel and has entered his second year as an Intern and the CFT Chapter Leader for Uganda. CFT through SUNx encompasses all the above interests and aspirations under one ‘tree shade’

I hold a Masters degree on Monitoring, Reporting and Verification of Greenhouse gases (MRV) and I am also a Project Monitoring and Evaluation Specialist having 10 years plus work experiences in Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation Areas coupled with expertise in RS & GIS Expert. I qualified as a Strong Climate Champion in 2022 through SUNx Malta in collaboration with the Institute of Tourism Studies Malta. My passion is to work on Projects which foster Climate Friendly Tourism in East Africa.

My name is Provia Kesande, a Tourism Lecturer at Makerere University Business School and a founder of Empowering Marginalized Poor Active Women Africa (EMPAWA). I am currently a student of the Climate Friendly Travel (CFT) diploma and the CFT Chapter Leader for Uganda. Choosing SunX Malta’s Diploma in CFT has been a transformative experience. It has not only introduced me to the wonders of sustainable travel but also provided a platform to actively combat climate change. Each lesson offers practical strategies to reduce environmental impact. Join me in exploring the world responsibly and making a positive impact on our planet.
